pondandhouse.jpg (6336 bytes) From the moment you step onto the grounds of our facility, you are encircled by the activities of animals, be they domestic or wild.   From the fish pond to the large feeding station for the many varieties of birds in our area, you feel as though this truly is "home" to the many wandering souls of nature.  Frogs, squirrels, chipmunks, geese, deer.  You name it and we've seen it.  We were even a daily stomping ground for a pair of ducks one winter!
pathtok3.jpg (5401 bytes) Make your way up the path to our kennels, and again the natural beauty of the grounds will capture your attention.  Listen to the birds chirping, the squirrels squeaking, and the water bubbling in the pond.  But, be careful for those many chipmunks that scurry underfoot as they gather stray seeds dropped from the bird feeders.   They are always in such a hurry!
K3runsfrontside.jpg (5151 bytes) As you approach the upper portion of the property nearest the kennels, stop to take a look at our second Koi pond.  Our fish have grown so much that we've recently had to expand their living quarters!  Off to the left, you can view the exterior runs designed for canine borders under 40 pounds.   These runs are 10 feet in length and vary in width from 3-5 feet depending on the actual size of the dog.  (Obviously a Chihuahua will need a smaller space than a Cocker Spaniel.  Too much space and little Chi Chi will feel overexposed!) serenitygarden2.jpg (5666 bytes)

Step into the building and take a peek inside.  This kennel is specifically designed for our smaller boarders.  Most smaller dogs like to feel as if they can nest into a cozy nook that is all their own.  The dimensions of the pens, the width of the doggie doors and the gauge of the fencing all take into account the safety and comfort of smaller dogs.  Let's proceed to the facilities for medium to large breeds.

K4sinkarea.jpg (4343 bytes) This next building is designed for larger dogs that are slower due to age related maladies or for dogs that are generally more shy.  We keep these quieter animals together in an effort to reduce their level of stress.  A nervous boarder would feel far too overwhelmed to enjoy his stay if he was boarded near an extremely vocal and outgoing neighbor.  Likewise, an older dog who simply wants to rest need not have to watch the antics of a high energy adolescent. The facilities for larger dogs are designed with a 15 foot run.  The interior portion is roughly 5'x6'.  A few of our pens are slightly larger to accommodate breeds of  longer, or taller, body styles (such as Great Danes, Saint Bernards, Mastiffs, etc.)  In an effort to ensure the comfort of these larger dogs, and older dogs of limited mobility, we have specially designed doors that lead to their exterior run.  The picture to the left shows a pen with our traditional guillotine-style door and a more accommodating "keebler" door.

k5runs.jpg (4282 bytes) And, finally, the building to the back of our property is about double the size of the building you just viewed.  This is where we house the bulk of our boarders, those that are full of energy and like to move and bounce around.   The barking increases as you approach this farthest kennel.  There is a reason this kennel is surrounded by acres of undeveloped woods!  The woods provide a buffer between us and the neighbors.  If you have an active German Shepherd or Labrador Retriever, he can enjoy himself without guilt or abandon (well, within the confines of his own safety, of course!).

The dimensions of the runs and pens are the same as in the prior kennel.  But, don't forget that you can opt for us to give your dog additional playtime in our playroom, if you think he may need to stretch out a bit more!

Let's move on to our facility for cats.  The Cattery sits above the building for the older/quieter dogs.  To the right, you can view a long shot of the cattery.  When you step inside, you hear classical music playing softly in the background.  This is truly a quiet, comfortable haven for the "finer" species.

Each pen is surrounded by clear plexiglass to give your cat a view to her surroundings, yet affording her the security of owning her own space.  The pens are about 4'x4' and are equipped with a piece of furniture for your cat to hide in or scratch, and a carpeted window seat for her to watch the goings on outside.  We do have wider pens (4'x7') to accommodate up to 3 cats from the same household, as well.  The picture to the right shows a Deluxe pen.  Deluxe pens are larger and can house multiple cats or the single cat that simply enjoys more space.  There are no window seats in these pens so we have added more interesting furniture to keep your cat(s) occupied.

thlongshot.jpg (5111 bytes) Our next stop on our tour is the Training Hall.  The Training Hall sits above the facility for the smaller dogs.  It's long enough to do some proper work with Heel and Recall, yet secure so that we can safely do our work with the Stay command without worrying that your dog will leave if distracted!   We have added some common household items (couch, dining table, trash bins) in order to gauge your dog's respect for such things.  If your dog tends to jump up on your couch to claim it as his own, we can teach him to keep four-on-the-floor.  If he tends to surf your table tops, or scam in the trash cans, for food scraps, we can work on that, too!  It is in this room that you will have your own private lesson with our trainers at the end of your dog's training.  We hope you will feel at home.
hhroom.jpg (4939 bytes) Our last stop will be the Paws in Play room.   This is the space where we will bring your dog for play time if you opt for "Happy Hours."  The Kennel Technician who is caring for your dog will bring him up here and let him explore and choose what he wants to do.  We have a small jump, a Pit Ball ring, and dozens of balls, ropes and squeaky toys for him to play with.   But, if your dog just wants to have his belly rubbed, be brushed, or just cuddled, we can do that, too!  This is your dog's personal time, so let us know what he likes to do so we can make it enjoyable for him.    hhrocky.jpg (4657 bytes)
