Shot Requirements

Home Up

TM's Kennel takes pride in providing the utmost care for our guest to assure their stay with us will be a pleasant experience.  To better ensure this, we do require certain vaccinations for boarding that some Veterinarians may, or may not, require be given as frequently as we ask  We are very much aware that the Veterinary industry is in disagreement regarding the efficacy of 3-year Distemper Combo vaccines.  Until research can be further substantiated, we will be adhering to an annual requirement for Distemper Combo vaccines for all boarders, except cats residing strictly indoors.   Our complete vaccination policy follows:

For our Canine Guests, we require:

bulletRabies:  Per Massachusetts State Law, every dog must have a current Rabies vaccine.  Your Veterinarian will give your dog either a 1-year or a 3-year vaccine.  Either is acceptable.  Check the listed "due date" on the Rabies Certificate issued by your Veterinarian.
bulletParvo/Distemper:  Some Veterinarians are giving this shot every two years, every three years, or not at all.  We do require this vaccine be current within the past year.  Please note that titer tests are not acceptable.  **UPDATE**
bulletBordetella (Kennel Cough):  Your Veterinarian may, or may not, give this vaccine as a course of your dog's normal care.  We do require that Bordetella be given within the past 6 months.   If it has not been given within the past 6 months, the update must be done at least 10 days prior to boarding.
